Mark F. Sasse, MD

Dr. Sasse received his medical degree and did his postgraduate training in Internal Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. Subsequently, Dr. Sasse practiced as an attending physician in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the Cook County Hospital in Chicago, and held an academic appointment as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Rush University College of Medicine. He then did his training in Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiovascular Medicine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. In August 2005 he joined the UW faculty of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Medicine, and the Adult Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory of the UW Hospital and Clinics as an interventional cardiologist. His current interests are in peripheral vascular disease screening and peripheral vascular intervention.

Research

His recent research activities include oxygen consumption and superoxide production following angiotensin II challenge in a porcine carotid artery model, and non-invasive assessment of coronary flow reserve using contrast-enhanced transthoracic echocardiography.
