Paul A. Rutecki, MD, is a professor and vice chairman of neurology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He is actively involved in clinical trials associated with NeuroPace, which is responsive brain stimulation to control epilepsy. Dr. Rutecki’s medical interests include epilepsy, clinical neurophysiology and developmental disabilities.
His teaching interests consist of epilepsy, consciousness, neurobiology of disease, cellular neurophysiology and clinical neurophysiology. He is also involved in the VA Francis Forster Epilepsy Center at the William Middleton VA Hospital, a nationally recognized center of excellence for epilepsy monitoring.
Dr. Rutecki is active in the American Epilepsy Society and was the scientific chair for the annual meeting in 2003. He has served on a number of society committees and reviews grants administered through the American Epilepsy Society, VA research and Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy (CURE).

Dr. Rutecki’s research currently consists of cellular neurophysiology, hippocampal synaptic synchronization and animal models of epilepsy. He also received a Merit Review grant through the Veterans Administration to study metabotropic glutamate receptors and development of epilepsy. |
