Dr. Chopra is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. His practice comprises all aspects of cardiothoracic surgery, with specialities in aortic and mitral valve surgery, aortic valve homografts and the Ross procedure, mitral reconstruction and repair, coronary artery bypass surgery, complex reoperative cardiac surgery, off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery, and partial left ventriculectomy.

Research
Dr. Chopra's research interests include intra and postoperative evaluation of surgical procedures via echocardiography, exercise testing, and cardiac catheterization; clinical and echocardiographic follow-ups of patients with prosthetic heart valves; evaluation of patients with renal transplant and coronary artery bypass; and evaluation of the tilting disc valve prosthesis. Other areas of special interest include minimally invasive cardiac surgery, mitral valve repairs, retrograde cerebral perfusion techniques for aortic arch aneurysmal repair, safer techniques for reoperative cardiac operations, and hemodynamic measurements for off-pump bypass.
