Dr. Rikkers is certified by the American Board of Surgery. He specializes in hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and gastrointestinal surgery, including the treatment of portal hypertension. In addition to serving as the Chairman of the Department of Surgery, Dr. Rikkers is editor-in-chief of Annals of Surgery. He also serves on the editorial boards of Digestive Surgery and Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery and has held offices for numerous national and international professional societies.
