Dr. Campos is certified by the American Board of Surgery. He specializes in gastrointestinal surgery and is an expert in the field of minimally invasive and endoscopic surgical techniques to treat benign and malignant esophageal and gastric diseases such as esophageal and gastric cancer, esophageal achalasia, Barrett's esophagus, gastro-esophageal reflux disease and para-esophageal hernias, among others; as well as minimally invasive bariatric weight loss surgery.

Research

Dr. Campos' research interests are focused in the development of new minimally invasive (MIS) and endoscopic techniques for both foregut diseases and morbid obesity, and evaluation of the outcomes using established MIS and endoscopic treatments. In addition he is leading studies to determine detailed mechanisms by which bariatric surgery improves obesity associated diseases such as diabetes mellitus. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and written many chapters in books as well as presented his work at national and international meetings.
